OUR PHILOSOPHY
Coaching and performing with singers should be a joyful musical experience. By creating playable, physically comfortable reductions and audition cuts of opera arias that have, in the past, scared pianists away from learning them (and, in the worst cases, can scare pianists away from pursuing collaborative piano at all!), we are making the world of collaborative arts accessible to more musicians, including those with injuries, small hands, or last-minute performing opportunities. At the same time, Accessible Accompaniments make a larger number of arias more viable as audition options for singers pursuing graduate work, YAPs, competitions, and professional engagements.
Accessible Accompaniments has since expanded its offerings to include recital-ready solo cuts of otherwise not-quite-solo arias, modern performing editions of neglected works only available in archaic clefs or full scores, and small-hand adaptations of song literature whose original writing is potentially injurious for those with just-an-octave hand spans. All of these offerings endeavor to make the joys of collaborative arts accessible to more pianists.
